Sometimes I feel I've got to... Run away...

It's been a while since I've posted on here. It's funny, I think fairly often during the course of a week, "Wow, this would make a good blog" or "I should blog about that" . Inevitably, life takes its toll and time slips away and my procrastination chalks another mark in the win column. It seems the only time I actually do stop to write here, is when something makes me mad or I'm feeling a bit bluesy. This week has been like that. Actually, I've had a couple of rough weeks. At the beginning of last week, I had a problem with my brakes on the truck, so I parked it until I could get it in the shop and decided to drive the old green beast that inexplicably keeps on ticking, barely. I drive to work and I even drive it to Burger King for lunch, but when it's time to finally go home about ten hours after I got there, I get in and the tire is flat. Not low, not slack, the tire is completely devoid of air. I call a friend to come get me and take me h...

Random Rants {PG-17}

So, it's been a while since I blogged. Yesterday was a month because, for three weeks I had no internet. It had something to do with the freakin' 40 days and 40 nights of rain that nearly washed away my humble abode. (OK, It was more like 2½ weeks.) Because of this extended and unplanned hiatus, I have several unrelated items to air out. So, if this seems disjointed and rambling - it is. The Job I still have the same job, working for a company with nearly 200 employees and about 220 faces. Also I have discovered that, after two and a half years in school, struggling to get a degree (while working full-time), I have achieved the heady title of Overpaid Typist.  I am all choked up. The Car I still have the same car that I spent over $1250 to get running after the "Total Loss" of my perfectly good one. I haven't had a lot of trouble out of it other than the fact that it is 16 years old and during the aforementioned monsoon season a couple weeks ago, leaked like a sie...

Elvis is Dead (and that isn't even the bad news)

Well, I had decided to write a blog today about the fact that "The King" would have turned 74 today. It is a sad thought, maybe sadder than the fact that he did not. I cannot imagine a 74 year old Elvis.  None of that matters, however, because I also signed over my car to the insurance company today and picked up my 16 year old Cutlass from the shop... over $900. That, in itself, is unremarkable until you factor in the fact that I left work early so I could get there before the shop closed at 5, left my perfectly good (yet, still totaled) car there to be towed away tomorrow to the crusher and made it approximately 1/3 of the way home. First, there was a shuddering, then a clacking noise; then, as I rolled up to a red light, it cut off. Hmmm. Curious. I started it up, dropped it in gear, it cut off. Fast forward, three or four more times and I 'roll' in to the mall parking lot. Now, here I feel I should mention the enormous similarity to the events that led up to the c...
